5 Ways To Survive The Wild!

J2O presents 5 Ways to Survive the Wild!

Two Pacific Northwest teenagers barely made it to 2022! Last Christmas, the two 19-year-olds decided to celebrate the holidays with a camping trip near Swastika Mountain near Eugene when they missed their December 29th arrival. On New Year’s Eve, officials reported the two men as missing. Due to high levels of snow, the Lane County Sheriff’s department along with a U.S. Coast Guard helicopter circled the area in pursuit of the missing men. After a few hours, the missing men were discovered thanks to an “SOS,” written in the snow. “These young men did a lot of things right to give themselves the best chance of being rescued,” Lt. Maggie Champin explained. “By writing ‘SOS’ in the snow, staying near their vehicle and near logging roads, we were able to find them relatively quickly. We recommend hikers carry personal locator beacons while out in the backcountry.” You can read more about this story HERE
