New Music: Jay Rock – “King’s Dead” ft. Kendrick Lamar & Future

Red light, green light! Kendrick Lamar plugs in Jay Rock and Future for "King's Dead".

Just days after releasing “All The Stars” with SZA, Kendrick Lamar teams up with Jay Rock and Future for another track off of the Black Panthers Soundtrack. “King’s Dead” is a high-energy, hard-hitting track featuring a verse from all three artists. “Miss me with that bullsh-t / You ain’t really wild, you a tourist / I be blackin’ out with the purist / I made a hundred thou’ then I freaked it ,” K Dot spits on the chorus. “I made 500 thousand, then I freaked it / I put a Rolls Royce on my wrist, oh yeah / F-ck his baby mama tryna sneak diss / I took her to my penthouse, then I freaked it,” Future continues.

Last week, Kendrick confirmed that he would be co-producing on the film’s soundtrack alongside Anthony “Top Dawg” Tiffith. “Marvel Studios’ Black Panther is amazing, from its cast to its director. The magnitude of this film showcases a great marriage of art and culture. I’m truly honored to contribute my knowledge of producing sound and writing music alongside Ryan and Marvel’s vision,” he explained in a statement. It’s wonderful to see so much black excellence on one project! I’m sure the Black Panther, already dubbed the highest pre-selling Marvels film, will have a major impact upon it’s release on February 16th! Black Panther: The Soundtrack is due for release February 9th!
