Justin Timberlake announces new album 'Man Of The Woods'
Justin Timberlake kicked off the year with some exciting news! In a video posted to Instagram, Justin announces the release of his forthcoming album Man Of The Woods. In the poetic video, Timberlake finds himself exploring the woods with his wife Jessica Biel. “This album is really inspired by my son, my wife, my family, but more so than any other album I’ve ever written, where I’m from. It’s personal.” Man Of The Woods follows Timberlake’s 2013 album The 20/20 Experience which featured hits like “Suit & Tie” ft. Jay Z and “Mirrors”. JT’s frequent collaborator Pharrell makes a cameo in the video. “That’s a smash,” he exclaims.
Between the album’s sound and it’s very personal inspiration, I’m excited to see what Justin has in store. Although his last single “Can’t Stop The Feeling” topped the charts, it wasn’t the epic return that music fans were hoping for. Considering the sound bites played in the trailer video, Man Of The Woods will feature a mature sound with influences from super producer Pharrell. Along with the album’s personal inspiration, the album will probably follow the likes of Jay Z’s 4:44, with themes routed in vulnerability, personal growth and interperonsal relationships. According to Ann-Derrick Gaillot of The Outline, “Justin Timberlake is rebranding as a white man,” a controversial topic the singer faces after dominating R&B and Soul for many years. Either way, expectations are high and we’re all looking forward to what’s next! While Man Of The Wood’s lead single “Filthy” is due for release this Friday (January 5th), the album itself is due for release on February 2nd.
