Will Sean Paul Make A Comeback In 2017?
It’s hard to believe that Sean Paul became a household name over 15 years ago! Back in 2002, the dancehall singer/rapper met success with international hits such as “Get Busy”, “Give Me The Light” and “Like Glue”. Although the superstar has released numerous singles and albums since then, the distinct singer has been virtually unknown for the last decade … that’s up until now! Last year, the Jamaican native returned to the scene with a handful of international hits including Sia’s “Cheap Thrills” and Clean Bandit’s “Rockabye”. Part of the reason Sean was able to make his comeback is the return of dance floor/reggae-influenced music to mainstream culture. In 2016, dance floor/reggae-influenced tracks such as Rihanna’s “Work”, Drake’s “One Dance” and Justin Bieber’s “Sorry” lead the Billboard Hot 100 for most of the year!
What Were The Hottest Songs Of 2016?
Considering the success of the dancehall genre over the last year, Sean Paul is due for a comeback! After teaming up with Tory Lanez on the Sasha-sampling “Tek Weh Yuh Heart”, the superstar is teaming up with pop new comer Dua Lipa for “No Lie”. “No Lie” is a radio-friendly track that finds Dua anticipating for a “lituation”. “Feel your eyes, they all over me / Don’t be shy, take control of me / Get the vibe it’s gonna be lit tonight,” she croons over the Sermstyle production. “Baby girl yuh a carry ten ton a fatness, gimme some a dat / Mixed with the badness, look how she act / Shaped like a goddess, but turn up, don’t stop / It’s a good piece of mentals under the cap,” Sean claps back. Between Sean’s ability to flawlessly ride a dancehall production and Dua’s sassy vocals, “No Lie” has the potential to find itself all over the charts! “No Lie” and “Tek Weh You Heart” are both cuts off of Sean’s forthcoming seventh album.
