ICYMI: SZA Announces ‘CTRL’ Release Date!
In case you missed it: R&B/Soul singer SZA returned to the music scene with an empowering number titled “Drew Barrymore”. On the smooth track, the TDE artist showcases her vocals while exploring themes as they relate to self-esteem. “Why is it so hard to accept the party is over? / You came with your new friends / And her mom jeans and her new Vans / And she’s perfect and I hate it, oh so glad you made it / I’m so glad you could come by,” she croons over The Antydote power production. The song is heavily influenced by the 90s movie Never Been Kissed featuring Drew Barrymore. “I’m sorry I’m not more attractive / I’m sorry I’m not more ladylike / I’m sorry I don’t shave my legs at night / I’m sorry I’m not your baby mama / I’m sorry you got karma comin’ to you,” she continues on the second verse. “Drew Barrymore” marks SZA highly anticipated debut CTRL, due for release February 3rd! Definitely looking forward to new music from SZA. Check out SZA’s “Drew Barrymore” below!
