New Music: The Weeknd Takes On Dance-Punk With “False Alarm”

Shortly after releasing the visuals to his lead single “Starboy”, The Weeknd releases another track titled “False Alarm”. On the upbeat track, Abel takes on a woman consumed by her love of material and who has been caught up in the ‘flashing lights’ and pressure that has come with a privileged lifestyle. “She loves everybody / Can’t you tell by the signs? / She loves everybody / She gets off all the time,” he croons over the Doc McKinney & Cirkut production. “It’s a dark philosophy / And it haunts her constantly / It’s a false alarm to me / She’s a false alarm,” he continues before the beat drops. Man, The Weeknd is killing it! While “Starboy” is a progression of The Weeknd’s past work, “False Alarm” fully emerges the singer in the dance-punk genre while staying true to the dark & grimy R&B we love.
