New MV: Rihanna – “Sledgehammer”

Rihanna’s back and this time she has swinging! Following singles like “This Is What You Came For” and “Nothing Is Promised” comes another heavy hitter titled “Sledgehammer”. The new track, a cut off the Star Trek: Beyond soundtrack, is an anthemic vocal powerhouse that serves as a companion to the upcoming sci-fi film. “I hit a wall,” she sings triumphantly. “I thought that I would hurt myself / Oh I was sure your words would leave me unconscious and on the floor / I’d be lying cold, lifeless / But I hit a wall / I hit ’em all / Watch them fall / You’re just another brick and I’m a sledgehammer.” In the video, which premiered at IMAX theaters this morning, Rihanna plays an alien amongst another galaxy. The visuals are just as moving as the song itself. Between this ballad, her current electronic, dance floor-filler and the trap-inspired Mike Will Made It production, Rihanna’s dominating in all areas! Always looking forward to more music from RiRi!
