#BennettKnowsRadio Covers #TheComeUpPVD [Exclusive]
On Thursday February 5th Starr Entertainment Power Entertainment brought The Come Up Showcase Series to Aurora Night Club in Providence, Rhode Island. The show was hosted by influencers/entertainers Gibran Borbon and Starr Nathan and featured a powerful line-up including Rhode Island rappers Almty Ceez, Cru Alxndr, Jinsu and Krew$. Before the show, #BennettKnowsRadio caught up with each rapper for a brief interview as it related to the event which showcased the smallest state’s emerging culture. “It’s a beautiful thing for our city. We definitely need to come together as one and show people that Rhode Island is the place to be and the place to look when it comes to music. Tonight is the beginning of really getting people started on this movement,” Krew$ explained upon his excitement for the show. Rhode Island’s very own Jinsu flew in from Los Angeles just to hit the event’s stage. “I’m happy to be back home to be doing a dope as event like this where we can bring up other dope artists,” he expressed.

Between all of the artists, 2016 will be a big year for the PVD Culture. While Krew$ has a new project titled Low-Fi in preparation for the Spring, “It means low quality but what it means to me is different but kind of difficult to understand. That’s how I feel as a person and that’s what I wanted to show in my music. it’s coming out crazy”, Cru Alxndr has a lot up his sleeves, “You can expect a lot. That might mean an album, a mixtape, some freestyle videos, some clothing, some [merchandise] … I’m always working “. Other projects coming from these artists include an EP titled Suffer. Learning. Suceed. from Jinsu and a couple projects from Ceez. Overall, the music scene in Rhode Island is at an all time a high and we’re all looking forward to new heights that we’ll reach this year.

After a few drinks and some socializing, which I greatly avoided in regard to the #WaterForAWeek Challenge, it was time for the show! Jinsu kicked off the night with a performance of a few unheard cuts off the forthcoming project. Before Jinsu took the stage, hosts Gibran and Starr entertained the crowd with a high energy performance of a 90s mix consisting of hits like Montell Jordan’s “This Is How We Do It” and Kris Kross’ “Jump”. After Jinsu heated up the stage, an exciting moment for many of his native fans, Ceez hit the stage with a performance of his current banger “Pull Up” and a brand new track titled “Fancy”. The last artist to hit the stage was Cru Alxndr who delivered a powerful performance of tracks including “Everybody Rich” and “You”.

After all was said and done, Gibran and Starr thanked the audience and performers for attending the show. However, the entertainment definitely did not end there. With each artist on stage, the DJ set off an amazing encore cypher performance which included each performer and impromptu entrees from other PVD artists such as Hil Holla, Cam Bells (who stole the show), Providence OG named Chachi, Chev JC, an unknown R&B singer and a hopeful newcomer appropriately name “Knapz”. The encore performance was an appropriate way to end the show leaving the audience appreciating Rhode Island’s amazing talent while craving so much more! In conclusion, dope event! Big shout out to Starr Power Entertainment for putting together such an amazing showcase! Check out interviews and photos from the event below!
