All That Val Talks “BAD”, New Music & ‘PVD’ [Listen]

Last night Rhode Island entertainer AllThatVal called into #BennettKnowsRadio to talk about making music, her plans for 2016 and her feelings towards Providence. Earlier this year, the singer gone dancer dropped the club-banging single “BAD”. “For the most part I’ve been getting a lot of positive feedback on [the track] which is really good. Kids can sing it … any body can really sing it. It’s a fun track,” she expressed upon it’s response. After moving to Miami to finish school, Valerie found herself at the heart of entertainment catching inspiration from the playful city. “Bad is about being bad, going out, talking about the club, turning up with your girls … it’s what I do every single night so it wasn’t hard to write,” she explained.

Although AllThatVal has received positivity and support as she pursues her dreams, the singer met controversy earlier this year as it relates to the single. During the Super Bowl Halftime Show, Valerie expressed her distaste for Beyonce’s new single “Formation” which met a lot of backlash via Twitter. “They took it to another level. They started to come at me personally and started to talk about my music. Putting out your music is hard, it’s not easy … I feel like people think that I think I’m better than them or Providence and that’s definitely not the case,” she explained. “I did a previous interview at a radio station here in Florida and I was talking about Providence and how much I love people out there. For my city to come back at me in that way, it made me look stupid. It made me look bad,” she continued.

Since then, Valerie has put the negativity behind her and plans on moving forward with a new single titled “Why”. “It’s [“Why”] an in your feelings type record, a grab your ice cream record, a think about your ex type of record,” she explained. With the new single, she plans to follow “BAD” with a track that showcases a vulnerable side. “I want people to see that I’m diverse and I could do different things,” she continued.
