Special Guest Blog: Olivia King – “How Deep Is Your Love?”

After going on her ‘Souled In America’ tour, a 15-20 stop concert across New England and the tri-state area, Oliva King kicks off her return with a cover of Calvin Harris and Disciples’ latest hit “How Deep Is Your Love”. Sitting in my car, listening to the radio, this unique and emotional melody came on. I was instantly drawn in. As I continued listening, I knew I had to cover the song and instantly “shazamed” it. I quickly texted Darian, my head choreographer and said have choreography ready for this song ASAP! We have to put out a YouTube video and catch it while it’s hot! The next day, I came into practice expecting to rehearse old material when Darian said, “Hold on, let me show you this quick.” All the sudden I heard the intro to “How Deep Is Your Love” by Calvin Harris & Disciples. In a matter of 24 hours, Darian had come up with unique choreo to this new record that truly captured the emotional yet fun feel to this song. I instantly started getting excited and we changed the whole plan for rehearsal that night. We stayed in the studio for hours learning the new choreography to the new piece. That night when I got home, I texted videographer, Sam Albert and told him how I found this new song and we already have choreography to it. I explained how I wanted to start a new YouTube journey with this being the first cover video of many that I plan on releasing. YouTube is so huge in the music industry now a days and I felt as though I really needed to work on my YouTube presence.

Coming off of our “Souled In America Tour,” a lot of our focus was on our live act. Although we are still participating in live shows weekly, our focus has switched a bit to these YouTube videos. My dancers and I plan on putting out a YouTube cover video every three weeks to the hottest pop/soul songs! You are sure to see the hashtag #YouTubeTuesdays every three Tuesdays from now on! The “How Deep Is Your Love” video happened so fast and without much planning! I had a vision and it quickly and perfectly came together! Sam Albert always knows how to take my crazy, creative visions and bring them to life! I’m so excited for this new YouTube journey and can’t wait to see where it takes us! Along with these videos, there are many other projects in the works that I can not wait to talk about soon! Until then….xoxo
