Earlier this summer Rhode Island rapper Cru Alxndr stopped by #BennettKnowsRadio to discuss his then forthcoming EP Pink Treasure. During his interview, Cru discussed the ins and outs of the collaboration project, his anticipated debut and much more. Stepping back from his most recent work, Cru decided to team up with Pittsburgh singer/songwriter CJ Tonic to deliver a tribute to females everywhere. “This project is built like a story. It touches the face of love and lust. It goes from the idea of a male meeting a women and falling into lust, because it’s in a moment, which then turns into love as time goes on. As the songs build up, you get that vibe. I love this project because it takes a sour turn at the end. It really paints the picture of a relationship and grabs the emotional piece of how powerful that pink treasure can be for a man,” he explained. The album kicks off with the title track “Pink Treasure” which appropriately sets the pace of the entire project. Both Cru and Tonic then take us on a musical journey that fuses both artist’s unique sounds by delivering eleven versatile tracks that explore the central themes of women, lust, relationships and love. Notable tracks include the hard-hitting single “Shook Ones” and Lil Kim “Crush On U”-reminiscent track “Radio”. The project includes a fair share of upbeat songs including “Ask 4 It” and “Back Room” as it does smooth tracks such as “Stay” and “Fell 4 Me“. Overall, Pink Treasure is well-developed project that delivers creativity and unique sounds from both Cru Alxndr and CJ Tonic while painting a vivid picture of a relationship from a male’s perspective. With Pink Treasure being his latest project, Cru Alxndr doesn’t plan on stopping anytime soon! Cru has also teamed up with Roger Will for another collaboration EP titled Can’t Wait and is currently preparing A highly-anticipated album for the near future! Get familiar!
