Iggy Azalea will never catch a break! Ten days after the pop rapper took home the Billboard Award for Top Rap Song alongside Top Streaming Artist and Top Streaming Artist, a petition on Change.org surfaced the web receiving 22,000 signatures to take away Iggy’s award for Top Rap Song. The Australian rapper took home the prestigious award over Big Sean’s “IDFWU”, Nicki Minaj’s “Anaconda” and Bobby Shrmurda’s “Hot N*gga”. The petition says “The eligibility time period for nominations is March 10th, 2014 through March 2015. ’Fancy’ was released on February 17th, 2014, nearly a month before the eligibility starting.” According to a Billboard spokesmen, Iggy won fair and square explaining that the song “was eligible” and clarified the guidelines. Nominees and winners of Billboard awards were chosen based on chart activity during that period, as well as album and digital song sales, radio plays, streams, touring and social media chatter. Based on the guidelines, I believe “Fancy” won fair and square! Judging by Iggy’s acceptance speech, I think she expected this type of backlash! I mean she is currently one of the most hated people on earth! What do you think? Sound off in the comments below!
