Today, Los Angeles rapper, Kid Ink, released his debut album, My Own Lane. I believe that Kid Ink kicks off 2014 with a great album that sets the pace for releases to come later this year. Between the turnt-up, club anthems and hard-hitting tracks, the “Time Of Your Life” rapper has put together a well-organized and balanced record. My Own Lane appropriately opens up with“Hello World” before moving onto “The Movement” which reminds fans and haters alike of all the work Ink put-in to get to where he is today. Right after the opening comes some of the album’s many collaborations such as the DJ Mustard produced hit, “Show Me” ft. Chris Brown, the Cali-felt track, “Iz U Down” ft. Tyga, the future smash hit, “We Just Came To Party” ft. August Alsina, the re-produced X track, “Main Chick” ft Breezy once again, “No Option” ft. King Los, which the duo kills and finally “Murda” ft. Pusha T. Other notable collaborations include “Bad Ass” featuring Meek Mill and Wale as well as “Bossin’ Up” ft. A$AP Ferg and French Montana. Additional to the album’s collaborations comes Kid Ink’s solo tracks: “Rollin”, one of my favorites off the album, is a smooth track that delivers that Cali-felt swag. Other notable tracks are “Tattoo Of My Name”, which is definitely for the ladies and “More Than A King”. Overall, I believe that Kid Ink has made a fresh, successful debut that will definitely create a spot for the young rapper in the hip-hop game. Kid Ink keeps it diverse and unique with a wide range of tracks while staying true to his California roots. I’m looking forward to seeing Kid Ink grow not only as a rapper but an artist as well!
