Last night, Oprah interviewed Rihanna on OWN’s, “The Next Chapter”. The interview started off with us getting to know the pop star who has the most digital downloads, eleven #1 singles and 6 Grammys and her rise to fame. Rihanna left her home on the island of Barbados when she was just sixteen years old to pursue her dream of becoming a pop star. After meeting with the president of Rock Nation, Jay-Z, Rihanna was signed and the rest is history. But what many viewers really tuned in to see was Rihanna talk about ex-boyfriend/R&B singer Chris Brown. After 28 minutes, Oprah finally asked about the night in 2009 when Chris Brown physically abused Rihanna which greatly impacted both stars life, forever. Rihanna shared her feelings on the whole situation and Chris Brown, “It was embarrassing, humiliating and hurtful. I lost my best friend. I was more concerned about him, everyone was calling him a monster”. Oprah then asked the very emotionally artist if she believed Chris Brown was her true love to which she responded, “Absolutely, I think he is the love of my life. He was my first love.” As for where they stand now, she said they are “very close friends, we have maintained a very close friendship ever since the restraining order was dropped.” After all of the Chris Brown questions, the two drove around Rihanna’s home town and even visited the house where Rihanna grew up. You can watch Oprah’s “The Next Chapter” on OWN at 9pm/c.
