New Music: Miguel – “Like You”

New Music: Miguel - "Like You"After unexpectedly surprising fans with his three-track EP ‘WILD’, Miguel continues to tease fans with “Like You”. Unlike the wild EP, “Like You” is a smooth, upbeat love song featuring the LA native’s smooth vocals. “Can’t nobody do it like you! Like me, can’t nobody do it like us! Like we! I don’t give a damn what they do or what they try ’cause ain’t nobody gone try to touch you and I know”, he croons. Miguel has been down-low since the release of his 2012 album Kaleidoscope Dream. “Been hiding out for a year. This time around Im not playing.”, Miguel explained of the forthcoming third album in a recent Instagram post. Maybe this is the start of something new! Check out Miguel’s “Like You” below!

Fast Paper Takes Us On A Lyrical Trip Through The 90’s With ‘Everything I Am’ [Review]

Fast Paper - 'Everything I Am'I finally got around to listening to Fast Paper’s EP ‘Everything I Am’ and man, I’m a glad I did! Fast Paper has been around for little while and despite having a just few tracks on the table, the rapper was named one of URI’s Top 5 rappers and also took home the award for Best New Artist at last year’s #BennettKnowsRadio Awards. While some cats praised Fast Paper for his lyrical approach, asking for more, others felt that he didn’t have the appropriate work to claim these titles. Long and behold! On January 19th, Paper responded to fans and critics with the release of his debut EP ‘Everything I Am’. The EP kicks off with “The Start Up” which sets the pace for the rest of the project. The inspiration and theme of the EP brilliantly explores the 90’s hip-hop era as Fast Paper spits lyrical fire over hip-hop instrumentals such as Minister Ray’s 1991 hit, “Envious At The Foolish” on “Mindstate” and Mobb Deep’s 1999 hit “Quiet Storm” on “After Life”. As Fast Paper tells his stories, I became more and more excited as he took on 90’s bangers such as Jay-Z’s classic “Feelin It” on “Killin It” and Busta Rhymes’ head-knockin’ “Put Your Hands Where My Eyes Can See” on “Straight Flavor”. Some of my favorite tracks include “Murder 1″ a grimy track where Fast Paper stands his ground as he confidently spits over Raekwon’s over 1995 hit “Ice Cream” and “The World Is Mine” an ironically inspirational track over Nas’ “The World Is Yours”. Overall, ‘Everything I Am’ is a well, put-together project answering both fans and critics alike. As much as Fast Paper claims he’s doing this for fun and games, it’s no joke! Fast Paper is the truth! If your a hip-hop head or you’re just looking for some good music, you can check out ‘Everything I Am’ here! With the release of this project, I’m already looking forward to what is next! Fast Paper will be joining #BennettKnowsRadio on the #AllThat season premiere on February 9th! If you have any questions for Paper, leave them in the comment box below!

J Santiago Notes 90’s Hip-Hop As An Early Influence In #TheThrowback

Year: Freshmen

Major: Communications & Journalism

90’s Favorites: Nickelodeon Game Shows, Playstation & Etch-A-Sketch

Last summer I was very fortunate to have Bennett as my counselor during the Talent Development program. During our first conversation, I remember telling him about how my father (Eddie Santiago) was a DJ for Hot 106 in Providence and other stations across the country. I told him I was interested in URI radio and that I was considering a career as a television personality, host, or even news anchor! I’m so grateful for the opportunity as a member of #BennettKnowsRadio. I was born in ’96 so the things that were hot were cartoons such as Johnny Bravo, Dexters Lab, and Spongebob, or early video game franchises like Halo, Splinter Cell, and Grand Theft Auto. We can’t forget about hip-hop during that era! My ear for hip-hop has experienced sounds from Jay Z, Biggie, Nas, Tupac, Eminem, and Kanye, all the way to modern day Childish Gambino, Kid Cudi, J.Cole, Kendrick Lamar, and Drake. Thank you to all of our listeners! I’m so excited for this season of #BennettKnowsRadio! It’s gonna be dope!

This time around #BennettKnowsRadio finds inspiration in the 90’s for #TheThrowback! We have a season full of surprises ahead of us! Stay tuned!

Drake Rumored To Release New Music Very Soon!

Drake Rumored To Release New Music Very Soon!!Although Drake didn’t have any projects in 2014, the Toronto rapper knows how to heat things up! Last year, upon the announcement of his forthcoming album, Views From The Six, Drizzy hit us with three hot tracks and numerous successful singles, remixes and features. With the first quarter of 2015 quickly approaching it’s peak, we’re wondering what Drake has up his sleeves this year! “I know Drake’s dropping a mixtape that I’ve already heard a lot of and it’s crazy,”  P. Reign recently told KarenCivil. “I think it’s some of the best I’ve heard from him in my life and I already know off Drake’s mixtape the world is going to shake.” With his most recent silence, I think it would be safe to say Drake is preparing to hit us with something new! “Listen up, boy, you’re better off eavesdropping, We already got spring 2015 poppin’,” Drizzy spit on his “0 to 100/ The Catch Up”. With the release of his fourth studio album and scheduled headlines at the 2015 Governors Ball and Coachella, Drake has a promising year ahead of him! Are you looking forward to Drake’s new music! If I had to guess, I’d expect something within the next couple weeks . . . days . . . hours!

Chris Brown Forced To Postpone ‘Between The Sheets’ Tour

Chris Brown Forced To Postpone 'Between The Sheets' Tour

Whether you are a fan of R&B music, you enjoy entertainment or you simply are just a female, we all were excited for Chris Brown and Trey Songz’ ‘Between The Sheet’ Tour. However, due to legal issues Breezy was forced to postpone the anticipated show that was planned to kick of today (January 27th) in Virginia. “I would first like to apologize to all the fans and people who have been supporters of me and all the music over the years,” Brown said in an apologetic Instagram post Monday night. “The beginning of the BTS tour has been moved to later dates now,” Breezy tweeted. While the news is unfortunate, the real issue is the ongoing legal troubles that our favorite R&B singer continues to face. Due to a shooting that occurred earlier this month, the judge revoked Chris’ probation due to unapproved travel and failure to complete his 1000 hours of community service on time. “The judge would not sign off on my travel to do the tour until I finish these last 100 hours of community service,” he added. “I promise that I am busting my ass doing it everyday until it’s complete.” In my opinion, Chris should have been completed his community service! Especially when he had the tour coming up! Also, it’s really unfortunate that media continues to paint a bad picture of Chris Brown. However, if he was responsible for what he has to do, it would be a lot harder for them to do so! Earlier this week Breezy revealed the track list to his exciting new project Fan of a Fan 2: The Album, a forthcoming collaboration album with tour mate Tyga. Let’s get it together Breezy! There’s a lot on the line! Check out Chris Brown in his newest music video “Autumn Leaves” featuring Kendrick Lamar below!
