Exclusive: BennettKnows Interviews Bongo The Drum Gahd

BongoEarlier this year I had the opportunity to make it over to the city of Lost Angels, otherwise known as beautiful Los Angeles, California! During my stay, I had the privilege of meeting with Rhode Island producer Bongo The Drum Gahd. Meeting in the studio of the prestigious producing duo Da Internz, I was able to get familiar with the Grammy Award winning producer and discuss what’s next for the RI native. Growing up in Providence, Bongo found his passion in music playing instruments in the church. Taking his craft to Jacksonville, he learned to love his passion and the interactions people had with music. Today, Bongo is an award-winning producer behind projects like Big Sean’s Dark Sky Paradise, Trey Songz Trigga and Omarion’s Sex Playlist.

Bongo 2During his interview, Bongo and I discussed his passion to which he credits his current success, “find what you’re passionate about, build it from the ground up and prosper.” “It’s the time, love and dedication to make it happen,” he continued. The creator describes his work as “moments”, putting the right people together, finding inspiration and delivering that interpretation. We also reflected on working with big names such as Musiq Soulchild and Big Sean as well as his relationship with Da Internz. During our time spent, I learned a lot from this Bongo and I look forward to watching him grow! Currently Bongo is working on The Game’s forthcoming project Documentary 2. Get familiar! Check out Bongo The Drum Gahd’s #BennettKnows interview below!

Evolution: A Note For The Readers

cropped-bennettknows-banner1.jpgBennettKnows For #BennettKnowsRadioDear “Know-It-Alls”, Supporters & Readers Alike,

The last year has been an amazing experience for myself and all the the people involved in BennettKnows. From #AllOfTheLights to #TheThrowback and everything in between, I have learned that anything is possible and the greatest reward is watching your dreams come true and sharing them with the people that you love. Back in September, I made a promise to myself and all my supporters that I will work harder and stay committed to the craft that I started back in 2011. Nonetheless, I will be using the next few weeks to make the transitions necessary for taking the next step towards my dreams. Although I won’t be active on a day-to-day basis, I will continue to learn and grow in radio broadcasting as I work with the team behind the scenes to prepare a comeback for the fall. I’m looking forward to the next chapter in BennettKnows! Expect the greatest!

Much love,
Bennett

Exclusive: BennettKnows Interviews Roger Will

BennettKnows Interviews Roger WillEarlier this year I had the opportunity to make it over to the city of Lost Angels, otherwise known as beautiful Los Angeles, California! During my stay, I had the privilege of meeting with Rhode Island rapper Roger Will a.k.a. Listen To Roger. Meeting in the studio of  the prestigious producing duo Da Internz, I was able to catch up with Roger and discuss what he has been up to since he moved to L.A. back in April of 2014. Reflecting on personal growth since his first project Listen To Roger, Will described his time spent on the West Coast as a “growth period”, a time to network and develop his songwriting skills. Although Roger hasn’t released a follow-up project, he has recently released new collaborations with the likes of artists such as Cru Alxndr and Ceez Luciano. In the future, Roger hopes to release a project, although less personal, more relatable for listeners through both the sounds and content of the music. During his interview we also discussed the development of the music industry here in Providence, Rhode Island, “people are putting their footprints in the sand,” he explained. Roger appreciates the recognition he has received after landing a spot on WBRU’s Top 15 Rhode Island rappers of 2015, especially since he hasn’t been here in over a year! Overall, Roger Will is a talented artist that is working hard to achieve his dreams. During our time spent, I learned a lot from this artist and I look forward to listening to his next project! Get to know Roger Will! This probably isn’t the first you’ve heard from him and definitely not the last! Check out his interview below!

#BennettKnowsRadio Talks ‘A Guy Named Harry’ With Jon Hope [Watch]

Screen Shot 2015-07-13 at 12.44.34 PMEarlier this summer, Rhode Island creative Jon Hope stopped by #BennettKnowsRadio as special guest to kick off our fifth (#SummerSessions) season on-air! Shortly after releasing his debut album A Guy Named Harry, the hip-hop artist discussed the ins and outs of the most recent project, what it means to him and what’s next for the Providence rapper. On the brink of losing a deal with Atlantic Records, Hope delivers a 13-record project that represents a 3-year period of pain with experiences involving depression, a catastrophic break-up, financial woes and a “baby-momma drama”. During the duration of the album, Hope takes us on an artistic journey through these experiences with remarkable tracks such as “Ain’t Nobody”, a hip-hop heavy track focusing on the road less traveled, “What Kind Of Art Is this?”, a stimulating track challenging expectations through Hope’s experience as a black man, “Sun Burn” a smooth, heart-felt track for the ladies and “F.I.S.H. & Coffee Milk”, my favorite track which bridges the gap between Hope’s experiences and growing up in Rhode Island. Overall, what makes this album a success is both it’s versatility which will satisfy music lovers across the board and the organic truth that Hope discloses with listeners. The response to the project has been positive, validating Hope’s journey thus far. With a full tour, re-releases and more exciting visuals, this is just the beginning! Get to know Jon Hope and what he’s all about! Check out Jon Hope’s #BennettKnowsRadio interview below!
